The Addiction

Okay so maybe it is a good type of addiction (I compared it to a heroin addiction) but I do not think the consequences are as bad.

We have held studio for the past two days (Monday and Tuesday). Starting at 9 in the morning with an 1:30 lunch break we end at 5 pm. So it is quite a day of reviewing, lecturing and criticizing (constructively of course). So after Monday's session two guys went out and bought a soccer ball.

Well it just so happens that half the guys on this study abroad all play together on an outdoor soccer team in Lubbock (myself included) so it was not hard for us to get a game started. It turned out even better when the rest of the group joined it.

But to make this short and sweet. We started playing at 6:30 and didn't end till 10:30. We woke up this morning sore as could be. And we had to go back and do the whole studio thing again. Well afterward we were again stressed and tired of school so we played 4 hours of soccer and actually got some of the locals to play with us also.

it turned out to be a lot of fun but it is becoming apparent that it is an addiction we cannot control and we will only stop when it's not light outside anymore

tommorow we wake up and leave for Brussels and go there all day.

and remember....tommorow is canada day, so go to the skating rink or something eh

The Beginning

Well hello all. I am hanging out in my hostel right now getting ready to go eat some dinner. So just a quick recap on the past two days events.

I flew from Dallas to Atlanta and then Atlanta to Brussels. Luckily (and I have no idea how) I slept for the majority of the flight to Brussels which would help me later in the day. So I got into the airport and met up with three of my friends. We got our baggage and went and hopped on the train
.

So we rode the train to Leuven and it was great because the hostel was all of 30 seconds from the train station. This made life easy. So we went and dropped our bags off (checkin was at 3:00 pm) and it was currently about 9:40 am. We left the hostel and began our journey across Leuven. We went East, South, West and North. We visited multiple parks and saw lots of women. I have to say that might have to be one of the greatest differences between Europe and Lubbock. There are no hot women walking around Lubbock, but here.....well I can't even start explaining. So we got lunch and enjoyed the "scenery". After that we visited another park and then started walking back to the hostel. Well 3:00 rolled around and we went and checked into our rooms and went had a meeting and ate dinner. I am rooming with my two friends Sam and Chance

Today the 28th we woke up nice and early and took a train to Brussels. We started a walking tour around the city visiting many many places. We had an assignment at the time so we had to take particular photographs. So we did a lot of walking and shooting and lunch rolled around. Sam, Chance and I walked around and found this nice restaurant to eat at. We had this funny French guy serve us so it was fun. So after this we all met up again and hopped on a metro to go visit the ATOMIUM.

This was built for the world expo (don't ask me the date I can't remember). But it represents an atom of an iron crystal magnified 164 billion times. Seems like a lot to me. So we went in and tourned this for a while again keeping our assignment in mind. Afterwards we all gathered together hopped on the train and headed back to Leuven.

We are all back at the hostel now and they just started serving dinner so I need to run.

Travel Plans

Well this is a general travel plan of where we are going while in Europe.
I will arrive in Brussels on the 27th and take a train out to Leuven and check into the hostel.

The next day which is a Sunday we will be taking a train to Brussels and we will visit the Grand Palace, EEC (European Economic Community), Atomium, and the Music Instrument Museum.

During this time while we are in Leuven we will be having studio also which will be based on photographs that we take on our tours and walks around.

Between the 28th and the 5th we will be doing little visits to Brussels and working on studio.

On the 5th of July we will be taking the train to De Haan-Oostende which is on the coast of Belgium and we will be spending all day there.

July 8th we will all be packing up and taking a train to Paris. On the 8th we will be visiting Ile Sacre, Notre Dame, Quartier Latin, Institut du Monde Arabe, Centre Pompidou, and the Louvre.

Okay so that is on the first day which is going to be great.

Instead of listing what happens each day I will just make a list of all the places we are going to visit. Villa Savoye, Maison de Verre, Mallet Stevens, Fondation Cartier, Quai du Branly, Eiffel Tower, Trocadero, Arc de Triomphe, Champs-Elysees, Grand Palais, Place de la Concorde. Just to name a a few. We will be staying there through the 12 and then heading back to Leuven.

Then after we get back we are going to hang out in Belgium for a bit and then head to the Netherlands from the 17th to the 21st.

Then on the 26th which is a Sunday is the end of the Tour de France so me and a few buddies will be heading back to Paris to watch the end of that. Hopefully at the same time hooking up with my mom and Kellie and Shannon.

After that I head back to Leuven mom, dad, kellie and shannon will be coming to visit in Brussels so I will get to hang out with them.

I feel it is important to mention that during our stay we will be constantly challenging the Belgians, Parisians and the Dutch to games of futbol. Even though we will get our asses handed to us it will still be a lot of fun and hopefully I can rough up one or two of them.

I head back to the states on August first and will hopefully stay there till mom gets back in town.
